  • 10:00 AM - 2:00 PM
  • Washington, DC

Sponsoring Organization: Maryland Native Plant Society

Civil War Sites in Washington DC- over 100 walks led in this longstanding series.

We will visit another upland terrace-gravel forest.  This is a Fort where the earthen fortifications can be seen and experienced as an historic example of a regenerated forest.

Leaders: Mary Pat Rowan and Lou Aronica

Registration is not required.

Notes:  Easy to moderate walk.

Bring: Lunch and water. Wear good shoes and long pants because of poison ivy and greenbriar.

Cancellation Policy:  Cancelled if pouring rain. Call Mary Pat before 9 am on Sunday if you have concerns about whether the trip is cancelled due to weather.

Directions: Fort Totten is located on Fort Totten Drive just one block east of North Capital Street, south of where Missouri Avenue meets Riggs Road. Going south on North Capital Street after the intersection with Missouri/Riggs, take a right (go east) on Crittenden or Buchanan Streets and then a left on Fort Totten Drive where there is parking on the west side of the street.

Contact: Mary Pat Rowan, blair-rowan@starpower.net, 202 526 8821.
