We will hike to the summit of Sugarloaf at a leisurely pace, stopping to identify and admire native plants in the rose and heath families. This will also be a chance to view autumn foliage and fruit of many woody plant species, including black birch, American chestnut, chestnut, red, black and black jack oaks, hickories, tupelos and persimmons as well as the table mountain pines at the summit. Common witch-hazel should be blooming along the trail to the summit and there may be a few fall wildflowers still in bloom.
