133rd walk led in this longstanding series at DC fort sites.

We will visit another upland terrace-gravel forest.  This is a Fort where the earthen fortifications can be seen and experienced as an historic example of a regenerated forest. We will explore the geology and the extensive blueberry/huckleberry/azalea patches in this dry, upland Chestnut Oak forest.

Leaders:  Mary Pat Rowan and David Culp

REGISTRATION IS NOT REQUIRED.

FREE

Notes: Easy to moderate walk.

Bring: : Lunch and water. Wear good shoes and long pants because of poison ivy and greenbriar.

Cancellation Policy: Cancelled if raining. Call Mary Pat before 9 am on Sunday if you have concerns about whether the trip is cancelled due to weather.

Contact: (for additional information; not to register)  Mary Pat Rowan, blair-rowan@starpower.net, 202 526 8821.
