Lake Roland (formerly called Robert E Lee Park) has over 500 acres of diverse ecosystems including wetlands, meadows, and hardwood forests. Most significant is the environmentally sensitive serpentine barrens, home to many rare and endangered species. Work has started on a plant survey of the park, and we hope to complete it through a series of walks in different seasons to the various regions in the park. This will be the first.

Botanical expertise is not required, but please bring your field guide(s). Registrants will receive a copy of the survey as it exists so far. Easy to moderate walk.

FREE, but ONLINE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Limited to 15. Registration through April 9 for members only.

Bring: Lunch, water, field guides. Wear appropriate shoes and clothes.

Cancel for heavy rain, but not for drizzle. Cancellation will be posted here by 8:30 AM the day of the walk.

Contact: (for additional information; not to register). Dwight Johnson 410-366-7239

Directions: included in registration confirmation.  Meet at the parking lot past the dam.
