Spring comes early to Maryland, though few people notice its unassuming arrival. On our bi-weekly saunters on the best of Montgomery County's natural surface trails, we'll be on the lookout for vernal occurrences such as the emergence of skunk cabbage flowers, shy salamanders, maple tree blossoms and the returning migrants. Our hikes are usually up to 3 miles in length and include a few ups and downs. We stop frequently to listen, watch and learn. Directions to the trail head will be emailed to registered participants prior to the hiking date. Dress for whatever the fickle springtime weather brings us!

NOTE: This is not strictly a plant trip and may touch on natural history, cultural history, plants, animals, geology, and whatever information participants can share!

Leaders: Geri Drymalski, Montgomery Parks Naturalist
