General Description: Come explore a park, new for MNPS field trips, to identify the trees, including Oaks and other plants. If time allows, we'll end up along a boardwalk to id the plants of a brackish & freshwater marsh.

Directions: Meet at the picnic pavilion at the end of the field by the Patuxent Hall (aka Tom Wisner Hall)

From Washington's Capital Beltway (I-95) Take ROUTE 4 South into Calvert County and follow the directions below.

From the Baltimore Beltway (I-695) Take ROUTE 301 South to ROUTE 4 South and follow the directions below.

  • At Huntingtown, turn RIGHT onto OLD TOWN ROAD (Rt. 524).
  • Proceed to Bowen's Grocery Store and turn RIGHT on HUNTINGTOWN ROAD.
  • At the 4-way stop sign intersection, continue STRAIGHT and you will be on KING'S LANDING ROAD. The road dead ends in the park.

Bring: Lunch or snack or water. Optional: hand lens, binoculars, field guides
