Cris Fleming will lead a trip to Soldiers Delight, a large serpentine barren in Baltimore County that is preserved as a Natural Environment Area by the Maryland Department of Natural Resources.  Open meadows, with prairie grasses such as big bluestem, little bluestem, and Indian grass, are the dominant community.  Within this regionally unusual habitat, Soldiers Delight harbors many plants that are rare in Maryland, including fringed gentian, spiked blazing star, fameflower, and sandplain gerardia.

Field trip registration is available when you register for the Conference.  MNPS Annual Fall Conference: Preserving and Restoring Biodiversity in Developed Landscapes
