Title:  Nature Hike & GBBC- Woodworth Park, Cheverly

The PG/AA Chapter of the Maryland Native Plant Society, The Cheverly Green Infrastructure Committee and its Science Advisory Committee are co-sponsoring nature hikes, coupled with the Great Backyard Bird Count of local birds, under the auspices of the Audubon Society and Cornell Lab of Ornithology on four days (Friday through Monday) from February 14th to the 17th, 2014. Two public hikes are planned for Saturday and Sunday, February 15th and 16th at the Woodworth and Nature Parks respectively. Both hikes will be guided by experienced bird watchers and will also identify trees and other native plants. 

Directions: Woodworth Park, 6401 Forest Rd, Cheverly, MD.

Approach Cheverly from either south or north on B-W Parkway; take the exit for Cheverly onto Rte 202 (Landover Rd), head east a few hundred feet and turn right onto Cheverly Ave heading south. Continue for six blocks to Forest Rd, after a small park on your left.  Head East on Forest Rd. Follow it for about 4 blocks to the Town Hall/Community Center at the end of a long entrance drive (opposite 64th Ave).  Free parking is available on left side of Town Hall.

Bring:  Binoculars.  Field guides optional.  Dress for the weather.

Notes:  Fairly easy walking on good trails, but there are some slopes to climb.
