Resources for Gardeners
A number of publications on our site will be useful for gardeners. These include the MNPS Gardener's Guidelines brochures.
We also encourage our gardeners to download the Shoppers Protest Cards and use them when shopping for plants for the garden.
Some of our members have put together plant lists, and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service, Chesapeake Bay Field Office, also has lists of native plants appropriate to your region.
We promote native plants sales when they occur in season; try to patronize them as much as possible; by creating demand for native plants, you can help ensure that these plants will be more widely available.

One of your best local resources for plant problems and gardening help is your local Cooperative Extension Service:
Other organizations and government agencies also have some gardening information:
- Alliance for the Chesapeake Bay's Bayscaping Program.
- Green Spring Gardens Park Gardening Page.
- Green Landscaping with Native Plants, from the Environmental Protection Agency.
Check out the Chesapeake Conservation Landscaping Council web site. They have brochures on conservation landscaping, and information on their annual conservation landscaping design contest.
Last, but not least, if you are interested in finding a speaker to talk to your group about native plants or invasive plants, please contact our speaker coordinator, at info @ mdflora.org.
