Sponsoring Organization: Maryland Native Plant Society and Cheverly Green Infrastructure Science Committee
We will identify trees, shrubs and even some remaining herbaceous species and do a survey of any birds remaining with us for the winter to add to the Christmas bird count. Two hikes (Saturday and Sunday) are planned; if you can’t make one day, come on the other, or both, if you can. This is a great chance to get out, learn about plants and birds and enjoy what nature has to offer this time of the year.
Both hikes will be guided by leaders familiar with local flora and fauna.
Notes: Easy walking on good trails, but there are some slopes to climb.
Bring: You will need a pair of binoculars for the birds; plant keys, bird guides and snacks are optional, but be sure to dress appropriately for the weather.
Cancellation Policy: May be cancelled for heavy rain, wind or other inclement weather. Call the organizer, Matt Salo at 301-341-1261, if in doubt or have other questions.
