Speaker: Sally Gagne

Sally has been concerned with deer damage since starting a Removing Invasive Plants program for Friends of Sligo Creek in 2003. About five years later she found she had to drop plant removal efforts to battle deer, the greater cause of disappearing native plants.

This will be a look at the general damage deer do (and a review on how to recognize it in the forest), why deer populations are not in ecological balance even in our Conservation Parks, and what residents can hope to do.

Location: Kensington Library.

Directions: From the Washington Beltway (I-495)
Take Exit 33, Connecticut Avenue, north to the third signal after the Beltway. Turn left onto Knowles and go 2 1/2 blocks to the library on the right. The program is open to non-members.

Registration is not required.
