Early Fall Walk in the Woods, Rock Creek Regional Park (Friday)

Description: We will hike about one-half mile at a slow pace on natural surface trails near Meadowside Nature Center in Rock Creek Regional Park. This area has both upland and riparian woodlands. The focus will be on plants, but we will be on the lookout for anything else of interest (e.g. birds, mushrooms, reptiles, amphibians, animal sign) and encourage participants to share their knowledge. For ages 18 and up.

FREE, BUT ONLINE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED.  Limited to 12 people. For ages 18 and up.

First, you must create an account (which can be used for future Montgomery
Park events). Once you have created an account, in the Search window, enter “Early Fall Walk in the Woods”. Then, click “Add to Cart” next to this activity – make sure you select the correct date if there are multiple events. 

Registration Cancellation: To cancel your registration on the Active Montgomery site, select “My Account” near the top right of the screen, then under “Account Activity” select “My Transactions”. In the row with the trip, select “Withdraw” in the Actions column, then Add to Cart, etc. 

Notes: Moderate hike with some moderate slopes. Wear sturdy shoes or boots. Bathrooms in the Meadowside Nature Center. The Lake Frank and Meadowside Trails Map can be downloaded from:

Bring:  Any field guides you like, binoculars if you want, water and a snack as desired.

Cancellation Policy:  Canceled if heavy rain and/or lightning, not for light drizzle.
