This area is not a true old-growth forest but there are towering hardwood species and it is one of the finest examples of a Piedmont forest. We will see the county champion Mockernut Hickory. Practice ID using bark, acorns and leaves.

ONLINE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Limited to 15 people.

Registration through October 11, 2017 for members only.

Notes: Natural surface walk over gently rolling hills. One moderate climb and one small stream crossing.

Bring: Binoculars, water, snacks, field guides, sturdy shoes and perhaps a walking stick.

Cancellation Policy:  Canceled in case of hard rain.
