157th walk in the Wild Washington series
NOTE DATE CHANGE TO SUNDAY APRIL 15, 2018!
(originally scheduled for April 8, changed to April 15)
Back again to Fort DeRussy in Rock Creek Park! We were there just a few weeks ago in February on a rainy Sunday, so we'll have recent recollection and see what is waking now. We will still be concentrating on tree ID using tree bark, buds and branch structures. We will also identify the evergreens that dot this mostly deciduous wood and should also spot the early spring ephemerals.
Leader: Allen Browne REGISTRATION IS NOT REQUIRED. FREE
Notes: Easy to moderate walk. Bring: Binoculars, magnifying glass and your favorite field guide. Water, lunch and a garbage bag to sit on. Cancellation Policy: We would cancel in the event of a forecasted prolonged downpour. If in doubt about the weather, call or text Lynn Parsons at 202-415-9529. Contact: (for additional information; not to register): Lynn Parsons, lynn.parsons@outlook.com, 202-415-9529
Directions: We will gather at 11 AM in the parking lot of the Nature Center in Rock Creek Park. From Military Road in DC, enter the Park by turning into Glover Road.
