Sponsored by Montgomery Parks
At one of the best sites in the DC area, see the amazing
display of spring wildflowers as we walk along the Potomac River at Turkey
Run Park. We will look for Virginia Bluebells, Squirrel Corn, Trout Lily,
Dutchman's Breeches, Sessile Trillium, Cutleaf Toothwort, and much more.
We hope to walk up to 3 miles round-trip: 1.5 miles to Dead Run or the
Turkey Run Loop Trail depending on the mud situation. The focus will be on
plants, but we will be on the lookout for anything else of interest (e.g., birds,
mushrooms, reptiles, amphibians, animal sign) and encourage participants to
share their knowledge. For ages 18 and up.
FREE, BUT ONLINE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Limited to 12 participants.

Notes: We will be going down and back up a steep hillside. There also will a
stream crossing where you'll need to hop across rocks (hiking poles would be
good for balance). Depending on the weather, the trail along the Potomac
River can be muddy. There are bathroom facilities at each of the parking
areas. Wear sturdy shoes or boots.
Directions will be sent to those who register.
