Sponsoring Organization: Maryland Native Plant Society
Description: This will be a plant field trip by bicycle around Herring Run Park. The park has floodplain forest and other habitat types in an urban setting and is a wonderful example of finding nature in our cities. The trail is a 5-6 mile paved and mostly level loop trail around Herring Run Creek. Botany beginners welcome. We will be logging the trip using the iNaturalist app.
Leader: Brett McMillan
ONLINE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Limited to 12 people. Not limited to MNPS members.
Notes: The course is relatively level, and we will be making fairly frequent stops, so most folks who can ride a bicycle should find this accessible. In terms of botanical skill level, botanical novices are encouraged to attend. I plan to record our trip plant list using the iNaturalist app and I encourage others to use the app as well (this is optional).
Bring: Bicycle, spare tube, water. A pannier or backpack to carry your stuff.
Contact (for information, not to register): Brett McMillan, bamcmillan@gmail.com
