Volunteer Project: TNC Forest Restoration
In partnership with Trout Unlimited (TU) and the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA), the Nature Conservancy (TNC) is co-organizing a tree planting day to restore 19 acres of native forest habitat on a SHA owned parcel just west of Grantsville, MD. The parcel is an abandoned agricultural field with an elevation ranging from ~2,000 to ~ 2,400 feet. A series of upland knobs separate the drainages of Spiker and Shade Runs, both cold-water brook trout streams that flow into the nearby Casselman River. For more details or to register as a volunteer contact Seth Moessinger at seth.moessinger@tu.org or 301-268-5751. You can also register directly online here.
