Sponsoring Organization: Maryland Native Plant Society and The Cheverly Green Infrastructure Committee

Leader: Matt T. Salo

The Cheverly Green Infrastructure Science Committee is again sponsoring nature hikes, coupled with the Great Backyard Bird Count of local birds on four days (Friday through Monday, from February 14 through February 17, 2020. Two public hikes are planned for Saturday, February 16 and Sunday, February 17 at the Woodworth and Cheverly Nature Parks respectively, and two more by invitation or request for more experienced birders. All hikes will be guided by experienced naturalists. In addition to birds, we will also be identifying trees and whatever plants we come across. This is a great chance to get outdoors, learn about birds, trees, and other plants, and enjoy what nature has to offer this time of year.

Directions: Approach Cheverly from either south or north on Baltimore-Washington Parkway; take the exit for Cheverly onto Rte 202 (Landover Rd), head east a few hundred feet and turn right onto Cheverly Ave heading south.  Watch out for a speed camera on your left. Continue for six blocks to Forest Road( after a small park on your left).

Cheverly Nature Park, 3398 at the end of Tremont Avenue, Cheverly, MD. (Address is for GPS orientation only; the owners are not associated with the hike.) Turn right on Forest Road and continue three blocks until the road splits. Stay to the right and continue straight ahead for two more blocks passing Crest Avenue and then turn right on Tremont Avenue and go to its end and park on the street.
