MNPS Field Trip: Oaks Overhead, Garrett County

Leaders: Wade Dorsey, Savage River State Forest Manager, and Liz McDowell, MNPS

2012 has been designated as the ”Year of the Oak” in Maryland. To celebrate, the Western Mountains Chapter of MNPS will meet outside to discover the oaks found in Garrett County. During this leisurely walk Wade will highlight various oak species, and along the way Liz will identify the various plants that inhabit the understory. A species list will be recorded and shared with forest staff and trip participants.
