Welcome beginners! Interested in knowing the names of the trees you encounter in your neighborhood? This field trip is for you!
We'll spend some time with field guides and specimens to learn field marks of several common trees. Then we'll walk a stretch of upland forest (moderate uphill for one quarter mile) followed by a stretch along the lake, looking at trees and shrubs along the way. We will be using a paved multi-use trail.
By the end, it is hoped that participants will have learned to identify 10-12 of the most common trees in the area. The leader will bring several field guides for participants to share.
