Become a Master Naturalist! The Audubon Naturalist Society (ANS) in partnership with the University of Maryland Extension (http://masternaturalist.umd.edu/ ) offers our second Maryland Master Naturalist training course.

Tuesdays & Thursdays, October 2–November 15, 2012, 9:30 am–2:30 pm

Audubon Naturalist Society’s Woodend Sanctuary, Chevy Chase

Cost: $250

ANS brings top-notch instructors to the program to provide:

  • 52 hours of training in the ecology, flora, and fauna of MD
  • 8 hours of hands-on field work
  • Focus on the natural history of Maryland’s Piedmont region
Once Interns complete classroom training, an initial 40 volunteer hours at the HOST site (ANS) is then required to become certified. A yearly 40 hours of naturalist-related volunteer service is required to maintain Master Naturalist Volunteer status.

Application-based admission limited to 18 participants. Applications are being accepted through July. If you’d like to learn more about the natural world and become a trained nature volunteer, please request an application from Pam Herrick, Volunteer Coordinator, at volunteer@audubonnaturalist.org or by calling 301-652-9188 x30.
