Join your fellow MAGEC members for a native plant/seed share at the Howard County Conservancy this October 12th from 11am-1pm!

BRING:

1. Bare root plants and/or seeds to share IF you have them, but bringing something is NOT REQUIRED! More seasoned gardeners are as happy to share their native plant bounty as newbies are to start filling in their garden spaces! A bare root plant sharing guide can be found here (please disregard potting soil section, event is bare root only!):

***Native plants only - no invasives or exotics! Native to MD is preferred, though native to adjacent states is allowed, as are nativars. If in doubt, reference www.marylandplantatlas.org and/or https://fsus.ncbg.unc.edu/ to verify nativity.

2. Table to display your plants, should you have *a lot* to share, and blanket or chair for relaxing. The event will be in and around the carriage house, and so if you have a canopy, please bring it. We can always use extra canopies for people to shelter under in case of inclement weather.

LEARNING RESOURCES:

***Howard County Master Gardeners will be on site - Compositing and Bay-wise teams. Bring all of your burning questions about eco-friendly gardening and/or composting. Master Gardeners discuss and demonstrate composting on a drop-in basis, teaching about: 1) Composting kitchen scraps and yard trimmings in your backyard or using the Feed the Green Bin (for Howard County residents only), 2) Troubleshooting or advising for maintaining your home backyard composting efforts or participating in the GreenBin compost collection program, 3) Improving your soil’s health by incorporating compost, 4) The impact of composting on climate.

***Wild Ones: Greater Baltimore members will be on site for community building and education.

Their core focus is to promote environmentally sound landscaping practices and preserve biodiversity, and they support native-plant community restoration through education and connecting with other native plant enthusiasts. The Greater Baltimore chapter is part of the Wild Ones national network of people committed to healing the earth through native plants.

No contact info, but I can answer questions as a member or get questions to their mods.
