Leader: Jim Brighton (co-founder of the Maryland Biodiversity Project)

Location and description:   We will meet at the parking lot of the E.A. Vaughn WMA Central Tract (38.077839, -75.391770) at 10am.  We will walk a portion of the WMA looking for wetland plants and other interesting plants. The mixture of forests, fields and marshes attract and support a multitude of wildlife species, including the Delmarva fox squirrels. From EA Vaughn we will take a 15-minute drive to Blades Road in Pocomoke SF (38.124119, -75.467425). Here we will walk around the Blades Road ponds and then walk out to the Pocomoke River through flooded forests and a cypress swamp. From Blades Road we will end the day at Porter's Crossing (38.222851, -75.362993). Porter's Crossing crosses the Pocomoke River and gives access to a cypress swamp with many interesting plants.

Notes: There will not be any facilities at our three stops. If you are coming from western MD, reserve extra commute time due to potential Bay Bridge traffic.

ONLINE REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED. Limited to 16 people. Registration through June 11 for members only.  Directions will be included in registration confirmation.

Bring:  Please make sure you treat your clothing for ticks and chiggers. Please bring lunch, snacks, and drinks. Most of the trip will be held on roadsides and well-maintained trails, but there may be wet areas so boots strongly advised.

Cancellation Policy:  Trip will proceed in drizzle or light rain, but will be canceled in case of thunderstorms or severe rain that might flood the area. Cancellation will be emailed at least 3 hours before meeting time.
