Description: Join Abby Lorenz, Adkins’ Director of Public Engagement, to learn how your everyday nature observations can support fundamental science. This hands-on introduction to the free iNaturalist app will show you how to photograph, identify, and share plants and wildlife while contributing to global biodiversity research. Whether you are a seasoned naturalist of just getting started, your sightings can make a difference.
After Abby’s talk, join Jim Brighton on a fun and fact-filled biodiversity walk at Adkins. Jim is the co-founder and President of the Maryland Biodiversity project. Learn about and observe the natural ecosystems of Maryland’s Coastal Plain on this expert-led walk, identifying as many species as possible along the way. Use this opportunity to practice the skills learned with Abby!
