Late Winter Hike at Rachel Carson Conservation Park
Join plant enthusiasts and weed warriors Jill Fonda Allen and Fred Proctor, as well as Lauren Hubbard plant biologist as we explore late winter in this botanically rich park. Winter is seen as a time of quiet, but many plants begin their spring changes during March. Explore the end of winter dormancy and identify trees before they leaf out. Winter interest includes American holly and rhododendron, green briar and spotted wintergreen. We may still be able to see crippled cranefly and putty root orchid leaves before they disappear.
