Civil War Sites in Washington DC- over 100 walks led in this longstanding series.

We will return to FORT DUPONT, the largest of the civil war fort properties in Washington, to explore the upland forests and look for American Chestnut trees if we can find any.  We will identify any trees we see as well as shrubs and ground plants along the way. This is the last civil war sites walk for the season until the fall.

Leader: Mary Pat Rowan

Registration is not required.

Notes:  Easy to moderate walk.

Bring: Lunch and water. Wear appropriate shoes and clothing.

Cancellation Policy:  Cancelled if raining. Call Mary Pat before 9 on Sunday morning if in doubt.

Directions: We will meet in the parking lot of the Ft. DuPont Activity Center off Randall Circle.  Randall Circle is on Minnesota Avenue SE at Massachusetts Av. SE.  Access via East Capital Street and go south on Minnesota Av SE to Randall Circle which is at Mass Av. SE.  Or, take I-295 from the beltway north to Pennsylvania Av SE and turn north on Minnesota Av.  Travel north until you get to Mass Av SE which is Randall Circle.
