THE PERPLEXING CASE of Cypripedium acaule

Speaker: Dr Douglas E Gill, Professor Emeritus, Dep't of Biology, UMD

Through 37 years of persistent field study and experimentation, Dr. Gill has been relentlessly pursuing the elusive answer to one of botany's great questions: Why do wild orchids commonly fail in their pollination and fruit/seed set? In this updated presentation Dr. Gill pieces together the surprising explanation of this beautiful but enigmatic native wildflower.

 

Location: Kensington Library.

Directions: From the Washington Beltway (I-495)

Take Exit 33, Connecticut Avenue, north to the third signal after the Beltway. Turn left onto Knowles and go 2 1/2 blocks to the library on the right.

The meeting is open to the public.
