Dorchester Pond is one of 1000’s of Coastal Plain seasonal ponds, or Delmarva Bays found on the Delmarva Peninsula. Coastal Plain seasonal ponds are geologically and ecologically unique freshwater depression wetlands and support many state and globally rare plants and animals. Dorchester Pond is the largest seasonal pond in Maryland and one of the largest on the Delmarva Peninsula. Due to fluctuating water levels in seasonal ponds (flooded in winter and spring, dry in late summer and fall), a fascinating flora develops, which includes species found nowhere else but in seasonal ponds. Knee-high rubber boots recommended.

Registration is restricted to the fall conference attendees. You can select this field trip when you register for the conference.
